Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT DOES COUNSELLING INVOLVE?
The length of commitment will depend on the depth of work required.
The first session is an hour long and subsequent sessions will be fifty minutes. The appointments are usually weekly on the same day and time in order to honour the momentum of the process.
THE LENGTH OF THE AGREEMENT
The number of psychotherapy sessions that you will need will depend very much on the type of problems you bring. Many people find a short sequence of sessions sufficient for their needs but some may need a longer time to explore their issues in depth. Usually we start off with six sessions and then review to decide our next step.
FEES
Sessions for psychotherapy and counselling cost £50. A limited number of reduced-fee places may be available for people on a low income. Please contact me for details. If I have no low-cost places available, I will suggest other alternatives. Fees for personal supervision are individually negotiated.
CONFIDENTIALITY
Information shared during counselling is confidential and I am bound by the BACP Code of ethics which can be viewed on their website. From time to time however information is shared with clinical supervisors as an essential part of good practice. Within this practice your identity is not revealed.
